How To Place An Ad

You have to be registered to place an ad. If not registered, click on the "Register" link and add your email address in the required field. Click "Submit" and an email is sent to your address. You are required to click the link in the email to confirm that you are the person actually registering. Complete the Registration Form. Read the Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy before checking the associated checkbox. Checking this box is required. Click the "Submit" button and then you are presented with the login button. Click "Login".

You need to prepare your photograph/s before placing your ad. See How To Prepare Pics for details.

[1] Whilst still logged into your account, click on the "Place Ad" link.

[2] You have to choose a Category for your ad. Do not choose a Category in blue. Use a lower category. For example, if you are advertising your home, choose "Your State>Houses For Sale" and click "Submit".

[3] A listing form will be presented for you to complete with all the details of your property. Fields in bold are required to be completed. All others are optional. Click on the HELP icon to the right of each field for tips on completing that field. In the Location field, choose AUS or NZ, the country where your property is located. The screen will then refresh showing another list box directly underneath the Country. Choose the State your property is in and the screen will refresh. Choose the City and the screen will refresh again. If there is a suburb under the city, choose a suburb and the screen will refresh again. If your city or suburb is not listed, just use any city or suburb and add a note about it in the Description field. We will add your city/suburb to your ad.

[4] In the "Description" area, write short sharp sentences. Hit your Enter key twice between paragraphs to allow some white space.

[5] In the Contact Information area, insert your name and phone number for potential buyers to contact you. If you are selling the property and receiving a commission, you are required to insert your business name in the Contact Person field. You can add the salespersons name after the business name if you wish. An example is "Some Real Estate - John Citizen". The contact name is automatically linked to your email address. You can also add your own website address if you have the property advertised on another site.

[6] Listing Images area: Click in the "Image 1" field and click "Browse" and a "Choose File" dialog box will show on the screen. Navigate to the folder on your hard-drive where you saved your optimized photographs and select the photo. Please note: Only photos saved as either JPG's or PNG's can be used. No GIF's please. Click the "Open" button and the path to your photo will be in the Image 1 field. Add a small caption to the photo in the "Description" field immediately below if required. Click in the Image 2 field and carry out the same steps as for Image 1 and so on. You can add extra photographs at any time by editing your ad after it has been submitted.

[7] You are now ready to upload your ad and photo/s. Check you have made no misrepresentations and have added everything you wanted to add and then click "Submit". Only click on this button once! Depending on the speed of your Internet connection and the file size of your photographs, this could take some time to complete.

[8] Your ad has now been added to the database and is awaiting approval by the admin.

Ad Enhancements

If you wish to order enhancements for your ad, log in (if not logged in already) and go to "My Ads".

[1] Click on the [B], which signifies Buy Enhancements, in line with your ad and a page will show the "Order Advertising and/or Enhancements". Here you can select Featured Ad, Highlight, Ad Weight and Extra Visibility if you wish to give your property a better chance of standing out from all the others. See the pricing page for details of available enhancements. Select the "Payment Method" you require and click "Proceed".

* If you chose Credit Card as the payment method, you will be taken to the secure Paymate website to complete the transaction. On the Paymate "Receipt" page, click on the "Continue" button to be redirected back to Property Listings. If you chose any other method of payment, the next screen explains what you have to do next.

[2] You are now presented with the "Order Preview" screen detailing Order Number and payment details. Check they are correct. You are required to check the checkbox for the "I agree to be bound by the following Terms of Use and Privacy Policy" field.

* If Cheque/Money Order was your chosen method of payment, the screen will show postal details, etc.

* If Direct Funds Transfer was selected, the screen is self explanatory.

[3] Your ad has now been added to the database and is awaiting approval by the admin. Once payment has been received and cleared, the ad will be activated.
